Mr and Mrs W knew their home had a relatively small kitchen in relation to the size of their property and they felt that they were also under-utilising the dining room and a small extension that had been added. The decision was therefore made to turn the whole area into one large open plan kitchen/dining area and Court Homemakers were called in to take care of the whole job, from start to finish.
With all the knock-throughs completed, the previous extension windows were removed and replaced with floor-to-ceiling windows spanning almost the entire width of the extension. This not only brought plenty of light into the area, but offered an amazing view into the garden, too. The light Putty coloured kitchen units chosen, along with the cream work surfaces, reflected the light from the windows perfectly to give a bright, light and airy feel to the whole area.
The flow across the whole area, and indeed from one room to another, is enhanced by the Oak Parquet flooring. Used throughout the entire downstairs of the house, it offers a seamless transition from one room to the other and coordinates the whole of the downstairs, making each room work with the next.
The result is a kitchen space that is now much more in line with the proportion of the rest of the house and, more importantly for Mr and Mrs W, the whole area is now being utilised and is great for entertaining with easy access into the garden.
“What a difference this work has made to us and the way we use the house,” commented Mrs W. “The whole place just feels bigger, lighter, and much more in line with the way we live. It’s perfect and Court Homemakers made everything so easy and were great to work with. We’d definitely recommend them to anyone considering doing something like this.”
