I love to cook and have always wanted a bank of appliances including a steamer.
The kitchen we had was fully functioning and didn’t look dated but it was time for replacing being 16 years old. I also liked the painted doors, the colour stone/grey being on trend
Describe the space worked with?
The kitchen, breakfast room, dining room and snug are all open plan so the design of the kitchen impacted on all the other rooms.
I have a large utility room and at one point wanted to remove the wall between it and the kitchen as I would have liked an island but I’m so pleased now we did not make that decision as the new layout works perfectly and I can prepare meals in the utility without creating any disorder in the open plan kitchen.
What special touches stand out?
Ryan, the designer, suggested the stone painted unit door we have used and I immediately loved it. The colour seems to change in different light from stone to grey to light sage. I used Farrow and Ball ‘ mouse's back’ on a feature curved wall which complements the units perfectly.
The solid wood curved breakfast bar contrasting against the Corian works tops is a wonderful feature with a trio of glass fisherman lamps hung above. There’s so many features in my kitchen that I love, it’s hard to pick just one from the double Belfast sink in the utility, the wooden cutlery drawers, the bank of four ovens, the induction hob with the cylindrical extractor, the feature lighting…..I could go on!
